Joris van Rijn

Joris van Rijn started his violin studies with Els Krieg at the Zwolsch Conservatory. In 1992 he studied with Jaring Walta at the KC in The Hague, where he graduated with distinction in 2000.

He continued his studies at the Juilliard School with Glenn Dicterow, (NY Philharmonic concertmaster) and Robert Mann (Juilliard Quartet). In 1999 Joris won second prize at the Oscar Back National Violin Competition.

He regularly performs as a soloist and concertmaster with the well-known Dutch symphony orchestras and has been concertmaster of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra since 2002. As a member of the Ruysdael Quartet, Ensemble Caméléon and ROctet, Joris can regularly be heard in the Dutch chamber music world. He is the artistic director of the ZOOM! chamber music festival that takes place every June at the Veluwezoom and also of Linari Classic, Festival della Musica Classica, in Tuscany, Italy.
