Double Bliss 1

During the premiere evening of the Double Bliss concert, Roctet will play the impressive Octet for Strings in C Major by George Enescu (1881–1955).
Roctet, the first permanent string octet in the Netherlands since 2016, has quickly earned a place in the chamber music world with fiery and refined performances at home and abroad. Their new album Changes was recently released, on which this masterful octet by Enescu can also be heard.
Enescu's octet, written at eighteen, is a powerful work that fuses Romanian lyricism, French elegance and Viennese structure. A through-composed sonata form unfolds in four movements, ending in a stirring waltz full of thematic reprises.
Performers – Roctet

Double Bliss 2

Double Bliss – double musical happiness
Two musicians, two studios, two unique concerts in one evening. During Double Bliss, the resident artists of Heuvellaan Hilversum are given carte blanche to create a surprising programme together with colleagues and with music from the broadcasting archive. During the break, the visitors switch studios and experience a second programme – an evening full of musical double happiness. Hence: Double Bliss.

One of the highlights of the evening is the Scherzo from the Two pieces for string octet op.11 by Dmitry Shostakovich (1906 – 1975), performed by Roctet (with visuals by our violinist Masha Iakovleva)
